When a Zip lands by parachute, it’s part of our safety system working.
Zips in flight perform hundreds of safety checks every second. When one of those checks finds an issue, the Zip will stop trying to deliver and instead fly to the closest Zipline dock. In some cases, the Zip or droid will determine that the safest course of action is to deploy a parachute and land where it is.
What happens next?
One of our team members will retrieve the Zip or droid. If the parachute landing interfered with the delivery, we’ll refund the order.
Safety precautions
Please stay a safe distance away from the Zip, droid, and parachute. A trained member of the Zipline team will recover the aircraft. If the Zip or droid is in a dangerous position, please call 9-1-1.
