When a dron lands by parachute, it’s part of our safety system working.
Drones in flight perform hundreds of safety checks every second. When one of those checks finds an issue, the Drone will stop trying to deliver and instead fly to the closest Zipline dock. In some cases, the dron or pod will determine that the safest course of action is to deploy a parachute and land where it is.
What happens next?
One of our team members will retrieve the dron or pod. If the parachute landing interfered with the delivery, we’ll refund the order.
Safety precautions
Please stay a safe distance away from the dron, pod, and parachute. A trained member of the Zipline team will recover the drone. If the drone or pod is in a dangerous position, please call 9-1-1.
