Why is my address not eligible for Zipline drone delivery, and what can I do?
Zipline drone delivery service eligibility depends on several factors, including regulatory constraints, operational limitations, and phased rollouts. Below, we outline the common reasons for ineligibility and steps you can take to address the issue.
Common Reasons for Ineligibility
1. Regulatory Restrictions
FAA Flight Rules: Zipline must comply with FAA regulations, which may restrict drone flights near airports, hospitals, schools, or other sensitive areas. Addresses within these restricted zones are not serviceable.
Airspace Limitations: Even if you are within the delivery range, regulatory approvals for your specific neighborhood may not yet be granted.
2. Mapping and Address Issues
Newly Built Homes: If your home is newly constructed, it may not yet appear in mapping systems used to determine serviceability.
Incorrect Address Entry: Ensure your address is entered correctly in the Zipline app. Use standard formatting and avoid abbreviations that the system may not recognize.
Use of Unit Numbers: Our system doesn't make use of unit numbers for multi-tenant addresses. Try leaving the unit, lot, suite and apartment number off your address.
3. Phased Rollouts and Service Area
Phased Expansion: Zipline expands service areas gradually to ensure quality and safety. Your address may not yet be included in the current coverage zone.
Service Radius Limitations: During phased rollouts, delivery zones are limited to a small radius around partner sites.
4. Operational Constraints
High Demand: Temporary pauses in service may occur when demand exceeds local capacity.
Obstructions: Significant tree coverage or other physical obstacles may prevent drones from safely delivering to your address.
Steps to Troubleshoot Eligibility Issues
Re-enter Your Address: - Open the Zipline app, tap the pencil icon to edit your address, and re-enter it in full. - Ensure the delivery point is correctly selected.
Refresh the App: - Log out and log back into the Zipline app to refresh your account session.
Check Notifications: - Keep the Zipline app installed and enable notifications. You’ll be alerted when your address becomes eligible.
Use an Alternate Drop Location: - If your address is restricted, try entering a nearby approved address (e.g., a neighboring address) as the delivery point.
Future Eligibility
Ineligibility is often temporary. Zipline is continuously expanding its service areas and working with regulatory authorities to lift restrictions. When your address becomes eligible, you’ll receive an automatic notification in the app.
By understanding these factors and following the troubleshooting steps, you can stay informed about your address’s eligibility for Zipline drone deliveries.
