Why do I see unexpected charges or pending amounts for my Zipline order, and how are refunds processed?

Understanding Charges and Refunds for Your Zipline Order

When placing an order with Zipline, you may notice temporary charges or pending amounts in your bank account. These are typically authorization holds placed by your financial institution to confirm the availability of funds for the order. Below, we explain common scenarios and how these charges are adjusted.

Temporary Authorization Holds

  • What is a temporary authorization hold? When you place an order, a pending charge is created for the estimated total. This is not the final charge but a hold to ensure funds are available.

  • Why do I see the full order amount even if items are out of stock? The initial hold reflects the total order amount. If items are out of stock or canceled, the hold will adjust, and you’ll only be charged for delivered items.

  • How long does it take for the hold to drop off? The timing depends on your financial institution but typically occurs within 24–48 hours after the order is completed or canceled.

No Charge for Out-of-Stock or Canceled Items

  • Will I be charged for items that are out of stock? No, you are only charged for items that are delivered. If an item is out of stock, the pending amount for that item will drop off automatically.

  • When will I see the refund for canceled items? You'll see the item marked off yoru order in the app right away and the final charge will remove the item's value from the prior authorization.

Incorrect or Duplicate Charges

  • Will I be charged for incorrect items I received? No, you will not be charged for items sent in error. Replacements for incorrect deliveries are provided at no additional cost.

  • Why was I charged twice and received two deliveries? This can happen if two separate orders were created due to a payment error. Each order will have its own charge and delivery.

Final Charges and Adjustments

  • Why does my pending charge exceed my order total? Some merchants, including Zipline, may place a temporary hold higher than the final total. This hold adjusts to the correct amount after the order is completed.

  • How can I confirm the final charge? Open the specific order in the Zipline app to view the refunded amount and the final charge.

By understanding these processes, you can better track your charges and refunds. If you have further questions, contact your financial institution or Zipline support for assistance.
